Check out these racist jerseys my hometown, Rockford, IL, is sporting for Mexican Heritage week. They’re also handing out maracas to the first 2500 people and there will be a special guest- Dora the Explorer!

The most depressing thing isn’t even the jerseys themselves, but how the overwhelming response from the community is that they aren’t racist because “it’s not like its some “Mexican mowing the lawn or jumping over a fence or something”. Ugh.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) — The Guilford High School teacher accused of shoving a student so hard he hit his head and suffered a concussion and a seizure has been found not guilty of all charges against him, including battery. Today a judge said his actions were necessary to keep other students and the school, safe.

I posted something on Facebook that said this:

“Personally, I see the kid probably being a sass and trying to walk in the opposite direction of the office and then I see a a grown man attack a high school student and then said student having a seizure. I really don’t care if this kid was the worst student at Guilford, no one has a right to attack anyone else like this.”

There were many responses to this considering it happened at the high school I went to. Here are some of the more horrifying ones.

this was posted by the Rockford City Market on facebook. actually seeing local people take an active, healthy interest in community issues is great. downtown is already such a bubble of articulate, creative persons and using their energy towards the greater good of this little city makes me so happy! i look forward to the summertime and i can’t wait for the development of the market district as well as other facets of downtown Rockford that have continually been growing. i’ve always been a fan of my hometown and i feel like this is an event i can be proud of and boast about.
